No account, one device identifier
GlowUp works without sign-up. On first launch the app creates a random identifier and keeps it in your device’s Keychain. Your profile, scans and shelf are stored on my server under this identifier, so they come back if you reinstall the app on the same device. It is not your name, email or Apple ID. On the server it is stored together with a one-way hash of it, which is also used to limit how often the app can be called.
Your skin profile
The answers you give in the app — for example your age range, gender, skin type, sensitivity, main goal, skin concerns, any skin conditions you choose to share, sunscreen habits, product preferences, ingredients you want to avoid and your routine — are stored on my server so the analysis can be personalised. Every question is optional and you can change your answers in Settings.
Photos and analysis
When you scan your face, analyse your colours or makeup, create a glow-up or hair colour preview, or scan a product, the photo you take or choose is uploaded to my server. To produce the result it is sent to OpenAI, which processes it under its API terms; those terms do not allow it to be used to train OpenAI’s models. The photo, the result and any generated preview image are stored with your scan history so you can open them again. Photos are only taken or picked when you start a scan; the app never reads your photo library, and it only asks to add to it when you save a result.
My Shelf and the product catalog
Products you add to My Shelf — names, photos, expiry dates and notes — are stored on my server under your identifier. If you choose to add a scanned product to the shared product catalog, its name, brand, summary and photo become part of the catalog that other users can find; they are not linked to your profile and stay in the catalog if you delete your data.
Where your data is stored
The server and its database and file storage are hosted by Supabase. Data is kept until you delete it (see below).
Notifications
Routine, streak, shelf-expiry and rescan reminders are scheduled on your device from the information already on it. If you allow notifications, the app also registers a Firebase Cloud Messaging token together with your time zone, so my server can tell you when a scan you left finishes — and so it never sends anything during your night. You can turn notifications off in iOS Settings at any time.
Usage statistics and crash reports
To understand which features help and to fix problems, the app sends usage statistics to Google Analytics for Firebase — for example which screens you open, when a scan starts, succeeds or fails, and whether a purchase screen was shown or a purchase went through — together with a few profile attributes (skin type, main goal, gender, age range, app language, notification status and whether you have Premium). They are tied to your app identifier. If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics sends a crash report with technical details about your device and the app. Firebase’s privacy information applies.
Purchases
Subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store; I never see your payment details. My purchase service, RevenueCat, keeps a record of your purchase history under your app identifier so purchases can be validated and restored, and my server stores whether you have Premium. RevenueCat’s privacy policy applies.
Support and feedback
If you contact support from inside the app, your subject and message are stored on my server with your app identifier. If you rate the app or send feedback from inside it, your rating and message are stored under the one-way hash of your identifier and deleted automatically after two years. I use them only to answer you and to improve GlowUp.
No ads, no tracking
GlowUp shows no ads, does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and does not use your device’s advertising identifier. I don’t sell your data.
Not medical advice
GlowUp’s results are cosmetic guidance generated by AI, not a medical diagnosis. For any skin condition that worries you, see a dermatologist.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Deleting your data
In the app, go to Settings → Privacy & Security. You can delete your face scan history (including photos and generated previews), your product scan history, or all of your data at once, which removes your profile, scans, shelf, photos and notification token from my server. Deleting the app removes what it stored on your device. To have in-app feedback, usage statistics, crash reports or purchase records deleted, email me and I’ll take care of it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
